Human beings themselves are often responsible for the difficult conditions in which they live. But they do not realize it, and always blame others for not having given them this or helped them with that. In fact, even if they were given what they asked for, it would not change much because when people are weak, lazy, or ignorant they are no happier and above all they do not improve; indeed, quite the opposite. How many times have we seen people debase themselves once their desires are satisfied? At least before, their hardships forced them to think and make an effort. But the second the obstacles are removed, it may be said that the road to hell opens wide before them. Of course, this in no way means that humans must forever suffer deprivation and hardship, no, but it is dangerous to give great material ease to those who do not know how to control themselves and who put material life ahead of spiritual life, because they are then exposed to the worst temptations.
