Truth - how to testify to it

When Jesus was questioned by Pilate, he replied, ‘For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.’ ‘What is truth?’ Pilate asked him. But we will never know what Jesus replied or even whether he replied, as the Gospel does not tell us. Testifying to the truth is what each one of Jesus’ disciples strives to do. The first requirement is that they understand that testifying is not merely recounting precisely and honestly what they have done or what they have seen and heard. Testifying to the truth requires an immense work on oneself. Telling the truth is not enough; we must testify to the truth not only with our words but also with our thoughts, feelings and actions – with our whole life. We should be testifying to the truth even by the way we breathe.
