In order to have true knowledge, we must be able to penetrate to the heart of a being or an object. And this can only be done by identification, in other words by fusing with the being or object we wish to know. At least for a moment, you must become someone or something else, and you cannot do this if you remain outside of it, content merely to observe it. You must enter into this other and feel the very slightest vibrations of its being. But the intellect cannot do this; only the spirit can. Here is a practical application: every day, by means of your spirit and your love, practise identifying with the supreme Being, with the One who is the source of all life, the first Cause, the Father of all, and one day you will feel that God has begun to live inside you with his splendour, his power, his wisdom and his love. This is what it means to know God.
