Human beings walk the paths of life like empty vessels waiting to be filled. But why wait? Each person and each object they encounter has special qualities, and if they learned to recognize these they would no longer feel empty or alone. Everything that exists in heaven and on earth can give you something good. But receiving it depends on you, for in order to receive you must be conscious and open up. If you go through life not only with your eyes and ears closed but, more importantly, with your heart and mind barricaded, you will, of course, remain in solitude and poverty. But open up, and you will realize that everything can serve as food for your inner life.
