The soul cannot be prevented from going towards the light. The soul is the daughter of God, no-one has a hold on her. This is why a man who sees his wife embrace spiritual life to perfect herself should be delighted and not try to stop her. All the more so because he too will benefit if his wife becomes inwardly richer. And a wife should give her husband the same freedom. It is of course not advisable for a man or a woman to start neglecting their obligations under the pretext of spirituality. On the contrary, the one who feels most drawn towards spiritual life must use their intelligence and their heart to maintain harmony between them and so encourage and convince the other, and certainly not put their partner off with a fanatical attitude. It is important for a man and a woman who are in a relationship together to be aware of this. With tenderness, kindness and patience one can teach the other and lead them towards the Creator.
