Melody, harmony, symphony… A melody is played on one string …

Melody, harmony, symphony… A melody is played on one string or sung by one voice. Harmony, on the other hand, implies the participation of several strings, voices or instruments, the combination of which involves an entire science. Melody is closest to the heart, to feeling, while harmony is related more to the intellect, to thought. But neither melody nor harmony is complete in itself. If perfection is to be attained, the heart, which speaks in the melody, must succeed in awakening the soul, and the intellect, which is expressed in harmony, must awaken the spirit. And with the soul and the spirit we enter the domain of the symphony. It is in the symphony that man can truly reach fulfilment, because it touches on the cosmic dimension of his being. The symphony represents the entire universe singing in chorus, the music of the spheres.
