You must learn to cultivate contentment. It is very harmful for human beings to take pleasure in criticism, dissatisfaction, and rebellion. These are manifestations of a lack of love. What is contentment? First you must know that it cannot be based on feelings, because the heart is only happy when all desires are fulfilled, and this happens only once in a while, and for a short moment. Feelings are not a very safe basis. The contentment I am talking to you about must be based on intelligence, reason, and thought; and then, even if your heart remains unsatisfied, your good reasoning will chase away the clouds in a jiffy.
You must know that prolonged dissatisfaction, conscious or not, breaks up and damages something in a person, and encourages negative actions. The best way to destroy the bad effects of dissatisfaction is to thank the Lord, nature and human beings, to be constantly grateful, many times a day, even if there is no reason for it. Gratitude is the best antidote for the poison engendered by dissatisfaction.
