‘I pray, I ask heaven for help, but it doesn’t hear me and it doesn’t answer.’ This is how some people justify the fact that they no longer pray: they claim that heaven is deaf. No, heaven is neither deaf nor cruel, and if we feel cut off from it, it is because we are encased in a carapace so thick that heaven’s presence, light and love cannot penetrate it. As St. Paul says: ‘In him we live and move and have our being.’ Yes, but we feel isolated and abandoned because the layers of impurities we have created by means of our thoughts, feelings and actions obstruct all avenues of communication. And yet everything – heaven, happiness, joy – is within our grasp, and if we work patiently to purify ourselves so that our subtle bodies become receptive and sensitive, one day contact will be restored and the divine presence will take possession of us.
