How many spiritualists abandon their work when they find …

How many spiritualists abandon their work when they find they don’t get immediate results! It’s not that the teaching they received is unsound, however, or that they have been given ineffective methods; it’s that they haven’t known how to proceed correctly. And above all, they are in a hurry, because they are lazy and very soon tire of making any effort. They’ve been living under the illusion that there are ways of overcoming difficulties quickly. Well, it’s not the case! Of course, that’s how it happens a bit with medicine: you take some tablets, have a few injections, and there you are, back on your feet. Unfortunately, spiritual work is completely different: there are no tablets, no injections there; you have to undertake a lengthy work on the matter of your own being. You must cook it, knead it and fashion it. And anyone who claims to be able to reveal secrets that will transform you and your life in a short space of time is a charlatan. It is possible to receive the sudden revelation of a truth or of a new direction to take, but afterwards you must work and work. It is an enterprise that never ends.
