It is not enough to discover the beauty of spiritual life …
It is not enough to discover the beauty of spiritual life to be able to devote yourself to it. Only those who have already worked a great deal towards this during their previous incarnations can do so. Otherwise it is impossible. Even if you want to, you cannot, because your being does not vibrate, does not rejoice, you are not inspired by this idea of devoting yourself to a sublime ideal; it simply does not appeal. In fact quite the reverse, it seems frightening to you. Theoretically, philosophically, many people are capable of understanding the splendour of such a commitment, but in practice, they are unable to engage in such an undertaking because their entire being is taken up by other aspirations, other needs and other desires. However, even if it is impossible for most human beings to devote their life to a higher ideal, it is never too late to begin working towards it.
