Many people worry about the future. They worry about …

Many people worry about the future. They worry about accidents, illness, poverty, in fact they feel totally exposed and unsafe. But why poison your life by imagining all kinds of misfortune? People should understand that such an attitude solves nothing; on the contrary. It is true we never know what the future holds, but the best way to avoid the misfortune we dread is by trying to live reasonably in the present. This is how we build our future. You cannot build yourself a good future with a bad present, because there is continuity between the two. If your present is dark, do not be misled into thinking your future will be luminous. It would be like wanting to build a marble palace on clay foundations. The whole thing would collapse. So even if you have had a bad day, try to wipe away its negative effects and before going off to sleep make sure you have the best thoughts and make the best resolutions for the next day. Then these thoughts will, like bees, clean up and repair everything during the night. This is what you should concern yourself with, and stop worrying about the future.
