Each thing has a duplicate on the etheric plane. And whatever you do is also done in duplicate; the original of your action goes away, but it leaves an imprint within you: a trace, a memory, a signature. If you have done good to someone, this good is gone, it has left you; but within you, on the etheric plane, remains an imprint of the same nature, which supports and reinforces you. And if you have done wrong, this wrong leaves you also, but an exact copy of the same nature remains, which continues to ravage and annihilate you.
See what happens, for example, when a man commits a crime. Why is he always pursued, even years later, by memories, pictures that come back and do not leave him alone? And yet his action is past, there is no visible trace of it; his mind could be at rest. Yes, but the duplicate remains and is responsible for the obsessions and images he cannot get rid of, and for the accusations of his conscience.
