Looking up - to receive light and strength

Why do you so often feel poor and powerless? Because you are used to looking down, in other words to seeing everything that is grounds for worry, anxiety and sadness. You forget to look up at the realm of light and beauty, at everything that can give an impulse to your soul, and to find in them the means of overcoming difficulties. Worries and difficulties will always exist, whatever you do; it is pointless fighting them, as you are likely to be crushed instead. So what can you do? The same as you would in bad weather or to get rid of insects: equip yourself. When it rains you take an umbrella, when it’s cold you dress warmly, and when there are mosquitoes you put up a mosquito net or use a product to keep them away. Well, when there are difficulties, the only solution is to look up to receive light and strength. And looking up also means learning to delight in what you have neglected until now. Each day try to find something that does you good or fills you with wonder – it may be an encounter, an event, an object, a thought. Place it in your heart, in your mind, in your memory, and give thanks for having found it on your path.
