Why do you demand so much of nature, of other human beings …

Why do you demand so much of nature, of other human beings and of the Creator? ‘We have our needs!’ you will say. Yes, exactly, let’s talk about these needs! Take a look at who it is in you that needs. Where does this voice come from that asks for comfort and pleasure, that rejects effort, restraint and obligation? It is the voice of your lower nature. And is this lower nature really and truly you? No. The lower nature is part of you, but is not you yourself. It is a kind of material you must work on in order to feed your higher nature, which is immortal and eternal. It is with this higher nature that you must identify. As long as you confuse yourself with your lower nature, you will say to yourself: ‘I want this, I need that, I am hurt, I am suffering…’, and you will never find light and peace.
