An object does not belong to you just because you own it. …

An object does not belong to you just because you own it. It only belongs to you if you feel inner joy or light because of it. Then, even if it’s not really yours, it belongs to you. In this way, the whole of creation – the mountains, oceans, sun and stars – can belong to you. Yes, really, if you admire them, if you love them, they are yours! So, from now on, you should change your perspective and understand what is and what isn’t yours… You have a wife, and because you can permit yourself a great deal with her, you think she belongs to you. Well, you’re quite mistaken. But if you are full of admiration for her, if you think of her as a precious being, as an aspect of the divine Mother, then, yes, she belongs to you, even if you do not touch her. You think that, in order to own something or someone, you have to hold them in your hands… No, unfortunately, what you hold most tightly often belongs to you the least.
