‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven’ - commentary

In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus asks that ‘your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’ Why does he ask this? Because it is the earth’s destiny to become the reflection of heaven. For the moment, of course, this request is far from being fulfilled. The earth, by which I mean the world of human beings, does not vibrate in harmony with heaven. When human beings become aware of the task for which they have incarnated, they will begin to work on the earth, which is to say, on ‘their’ earth, on themselves. Their whole being will vibrate in unison with the divine world and will reflect the order, the beauty and the light of this world on high. Since the state of our planet Earth is linked to the evolution of human beings, it too will evolve and become subtle, vibrant and luminous, and great transformations will ensue in the mineral, vegetable and animal kingdoms. Everything will change on account of the life of human beings, simply because they will have come to understand the work they must do on themselves in order to live in harmony with the divine world.
