Grain of Wheat - its adventures reflect our evolution

What an extraordinary adventure the ear of wheat has! First, it is harvested then it is tied into sheaves, threshed and sent to the mill to be ground between two huge stones. When it has been reduced to flour, it is mixed with water, kneaded into a dough, and put in a blazing oven to bake. Just when it might think that all its troubles are over, along comes someone with a knife to cut it into slices, and then people sink their teeth into it and chew it. There is a lot to be learned from the life of an ear of wheat, and it is well worth thinking carefully about it, as a person’s own evolution* follows the same process. All of us have to undergo many ordeals before we are finally moulded, like wheat, into something fit to be offered in sacrifice for the salvation of humanity.
