Fire - around which we gather; its symbolic meaning

Consider the meaning of the circle we form when we gather around the fire. The fire is the centre of the circle, a centre of light, warmth and life to which we must send our thoughts and prayers. We come together in the fire: each one’s soul and thoughts meet with those of the others in the fire, but only if we are conscious, only if we understand the importance of such a meeting, of such a ceremony. Why do we gather around the fire? To give flesh and bones to a divine idea by enfolding it in our love and providing it with the elements it needs to become a reality. We must do all we can to ensure that our friends in the invisible world find an abundance of this matter in us with which to wrap the child that is to be born – the kingdom of God.
