Conditions, good - knowing how to use them so as not to be sorry later

So many people, when they suddenly find themselves caught up in inextricable situations, become aware of their own ignorance and weakness and think, ‘If only I had known!’ They could have known, because at some point they were given all the right conditions for learning, practising and becoming stronger. But they neglected those conditions; they found spiritual life too demanding, and other activities, other preoccupations, seemed more important at the time, so now they find themselves in an impasse. You will ask, ‘And if we let the good conditions pass us by, is it too late to remedy the situation?’ No, it is never too late; the path of life is long, it never ends, and other conditions will be given to you in this life or in some other. So try not to let them pass by, so that you don’t have to say to yourself once again, ‘If only I had known!’
