Body and soul - vessel and content
Every particle of matter has an energy. So our physical body, which is matter, also has an energy, which we call the soul. But human beings are actually made up of several bodies, each of which has a soul: the physical body has the instinctual soul; the astral body, the emotional soul, and the mental body, the mind soul. And the causal, buddhic and atmic bodies also have souls, which the cabbalists call Yehidah, Hayah and Neshamah. Each body, therefore, has its soul: the body is the vessel, and the soul the content, the energy animating it, and the two are united. Nature itself, the cosmos, is a body (the body of God), and it has a soul (the universal Soul), which fills the cosmos with its quintessence. As far as Initiatic Science is concerned, all this is crystal-clear: there are as many souls as there are bodies.
