Angel on one’s right and devil on one’s left - symbols of human beings’ dual nature

Human beings exist at the boundary between the higher and lower worlds. The Christian religion has expressed this idea through the image of a guardian angel standing to their right and of the devil standing to their left. The angel advises and enlightens men and women, whereas the devil seeks to mislead them and then to prey on them. It is a rather simplistic way of presenting things, but it corresponds to a certain reality. These two worlds, the higher and the lower, between which human beings are situated, correspond to their higher and lower natures. According to their degree of evolution, they allow one or the other to predominate, and so they encounter either spirits of light or of darkness. Some people will say that they don’t believe in entities from the invisible world. Well, whether they do or not makes no difference – they have two natures which both seek to express themselves. So it is up to each one of them to decide under which influence they wish to place themselves.
