Worldly affairs - you should not wait until you have settled them before living the spiritual life

Most people live with the conviction that before they can live a spiritual life they have to settle their worldly affairs. They tell themselves, ‘First I must have a job, then I’ll marry, and I’ll have children to bring up. All that will keep me busy for several years. But then I will be free for the spiritual life.’ They do not realize that this way of thinking is a trap cleverly set by their lower nature, which wants to keep them as far away as possible from the only thing that can truly help them. If you wait until you have settled all your affairs before living the spiritual life, you will do nothing. For worldly affairs are never settled; unforeseen events are forever occurring that need to be put right. So you should enter the spiritual life whatever the state of your worldly affairs. Why? Because when you give priority to the spiritual life, you are working on the world of causes and, therefore, also preparing the best conditions for the material aspect to be positively influenced over time.
