Wolf - a symbol of the devil

Whatever happens to people over the course of their life, nature is concerned only with their education and development. Each human being has been entrusted with a sheepfold and must see to it that there are no holes in the walls for wolves to get through, or must build a fence too high for the wolves to jump over. You are thinking, ‘Sheepfolds, sheep, wolves… Does this really have anything to do with us?’ Yes, it does, but you don’t realize it, because you haven’t studied the traditional language of symbols. The wolf that threatens our sheepfold represents the devil, and by ‘devil’ I mean the dark, evil spirits that prowl around humans, watching for their slightest lack of faith so as to leap on them. To protect ourselves from the wolf means to pay constant attention, always to be awake and alert. So we are all shepherds: the sheepfold is our body, and the sheep are our cells. We have ‘guard dogs’ as well, the beings of light that protect us.
