Just because someone gets married and their family expands …
Just because someone gets married and their family expands to include a father-in-law, mother-in-law, and masses of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins, and so on, it does not mean they become aware of what a family really is. In most cases, people merely add a few relatives to their family circle, but maintain the same narrow, limited, selfish consciousness. A truly expanded consciousness expresses itself in an attitude of magnanimity and unselfishness, in a readiness to accept certain inconveniences, even to suffer and to sacrifice ourselves for others. And that is not all: the greatest expansion of consciousness is when we know and feel that we belong to the vast, universal family of God’s creatures and rejoice in this knowledge!
