Human beings are amazing. They trust the advice of the first person who comes along to tell them how to succeed in life, what they should think about politics or religion, who to associate with, how to regain their health and so forth, without ever asking themselves if this person really has what it takes to offer them advice. They are like the man who was losing his hair and went to the store to buy some hair lotion. ‘Here is a very effective product’, said the salesman, ‘It’s called Pilocarpine. Rub it in every night and you will see how miraculous it is.’ The man buys the product and goes home delighted, without having noticed that the fellow who sold it to him did not have a single hair on his head. If the product were so effective, why was he still bald? People let themselves be taken in by anyone, without thinking, without noticing the signs that prove that the individual making such fine speeches is unable to help them in any way whatsoever. And this is unfortunately true in all spheres of life.
