Freedom - of those who do not need to be concerned with material possessions

Even if you are somewhat deprived materially, you should still be able to rejoice and glorify the Lord and say, ‘O Lord God, how good and wise you are! You have protected me. If I owned factories or banks, what worries I would have, and how much time I would waste! Whereas now, with only the bare necessities, I am free; I have every chance to think of you and get closer to you.’ Look at the way all these leaders, presidents and business managers are constantly pestered, constantly on the go and anxious about their affairs, with all the consequences that entails for their nervous system. Whereas you, who have no property, no shares on the stock exchange, no strongbox in the bank and only what you need to live – how free you are! Try, for once, to understand why it is better for your balance, your peace of mind and your inner development to have to live without great material means, and thank providence for giving you such conditions.
